Praying for Peace
The world–and each of us–needs peace. The Bible says that as a follower of Jesus Christ we have God’s peace. We just need to “appropriate” it to experience it in our lives.
Below are scriptures related to peace. If you are in the midst of a trial that is robbing you of peace, we recommend reading and praying through these verses as a way of boosting your faith and of surrendering your life to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace. (Ephesians 2:14-15)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
“Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.” (Daniel 10:19)

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:35-41)
